North Point - Stanley circular
This bike ride on Hong Kong Island starts on the busy northern side and immediately climbs up and over the hills to the southern side of the island, following the undulating coastline before rising again over the eastern hills and returning via flat main roads. Go early in the morning to join the throngs of cyclists avoiding the traffic that clogs the roads later in the day.

The details
From the North Point ferry terminal, the first challenge is to navigate out of the immediate area. Walking the bikes along to the main roads seems to be the only realistic way of doing this without entering a long one way system.
After joining the main road, again there is a section where turning left appears to be very hard, opposite Victoria Park. I will try to find a better route in future (see map!) as I was forced to carry my bike up steps to join the road I wanted.
After this, it's very easy indeed. Just follow your nose. After the initial climb, there is a lovely flat section of road before a final climb to the high point on the first hill. From there, it's downhill all the way to Repulse Bay, after which there is a lot of undulation.
From Stanley, the road is very pleasant although buses use the route and can be aggressive. The road is also very narrow in places.
On coming down to the urban area again, follow the road straight at all times and eventually you will find your way back to the North Point ferry terminal, although check the map to see where to turn right. as most roads here are one-way only.
